WHAT’S IT LIKE TO LIVE AT RISING TIDE?
Rising Tide is community living. It’s a built-in support system, but it requires intention to make the household harmonious. Here are some of the notable features:
Sharing is caring.
Private rooms are available, but bedrooms and bathrooms are often shared.Everyone contributes.
All members of the household do their part for the care and upkeep of the home.Practice respect and accountability.
Residents take an active role in supporting one another and maintaining harmony in the home. House Rules ensure that everyone’s on the same page.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO LIVE AT RISING TIDE?
Anyone can apply, either individually or through a referral from a social service agency by a Case Manager.
If you are referred by a social service agency, the Case Manager must vouch for you and advocate if any problems come up.
Rising Tide is Second Chance housing, so we won't disqualify you for a prior eviction or run a credit report. But we do need assurance that you can afford a rent and that you will be reliable paying every month. `
Rent should not be more than 70% of your total income. (This is a much higher percentage than is typically allowed, because all household costs are included in our rate).
We accept self-pay, and also subsidies & payment from charitable organizations. If you receive subsidies (SSI / SSDI, etc), we may ask that your rent is paid directly to us by your payer.
Additionally, these characteristics and agreements are required from all residents:
You must be self sufficient. You must have the skills and mindset necessary for independent living. You should be capable of self care and hygiene on your own, without reminders from others, such as: bathing / brushing teeth, taking medications, etc.
Keep clothes & bedding clean / do laundry
Prepare your own meals
Complete household chores & clean up after yourself
Get along well with others in the home, and resolve conflicts when they happen
Follow House Rules and be accountable for your actions. These rules ensure harmony and equity in shared resources. Failure to follow the rules will result in warnings and possibly eviction.
